Splish Splash

Deacon went swimming for the first time yesterday in a big pool at Mrs. Saundra's. He loved it so much! Daddy even took him under and that didn't seem to bother him. Aunt Tay and Uncle Chase went too and we all had a great time.

Aunt Tay leaves for UK on Sunday so we are spending as much time as possible with her this week. When she leaves we will be counting down the days until Labor Day weekend when we can see her again!

Our "Boys"

Well Jackson starts first grade on Thursday. It's so sad how quick they grow up. Jackson will always have a very special place in our hearts. He was our first "boy" and we jump at any chance we have to spend the day with him. We wanted to have a special day with him before he started back to school. Tay joined us on our adventures. It was a little sad that Amelia had to go to daycare but it's important to us to spend one on one time with them as well. Me and Tay are going to do a girls only trip with her next week. Taylor and I were reading Deacon's car seat warning to Jackson on the way back from breakfast. He is all about reading so we were helping him read it. It states that a child should be in the backseat until they are 12. I told Jackson that I would be so sad when he turned 12. He said, "I know me and Amelia were just discussing this yesterday and I told her one day these toys shelves will all be empty and we'll be all grown up-Mommy and Daddy will just save a few toys for the grandkids." He is so wise beyond his years.

We started the morning at Huddle House for breakfast. Derek worked last night and I wanted to give him plenty of time to sleep as we tend to get a little loud when we are playing so it was just me, Tay, and the boys. I think they will be the best of friends. There are fewer years between them then there are between Jill and I-crazy huh!

I wanted to make sure the day was well documented.

Then we came home and watched a movie before heading to Chuckie Cheese when D got up. We joined the email club so between all the deals we ended up with 130 tokens. Derek and Jackson had a blast. As we pulled in Jackson said "Chuckie Cheese where a kid can be a kid." Derek and him later decided it's where an adult can be a kid too! We ended up with 510 tickets and Jackson got a tootsie roll and modeling clay.

We got in the photo booth and had our picture drawn. Tay held our stuff for the picture. She is having a special day with Jackson tommorow so she just tagged along today. Their special day will probably include some swimming!

It was a great day. We loved spending time with our "big boy" who will always be my first baby!

Hangin' Out

We have so much fun with Deacon this week. His sweet little personality is emerging and he is smiling at us all the time now. He is most happy in the mornings and will just coo and talk to us. He loves when his daddy gets up in the mornings. Derek will come into the living room and say "Hi Buddy" and he scans the room until he can focus on him-simply adorable. I sure will miss him the mornings that I work as that is my favorite part of the day with him. However, I love being a Speech Therapist and I know that my patients will put a smile on my face in no time. These pictures are some of the highlights of the past week. They are in no particular order as blogger uploads them starting from the last picture first.

Derek and I found a baby pool on clearance for Deacon and we bought it for him. He loves the bath so we knew he would enjoy it! Here he is just chilling.


I never imagined that I would be sitting in a baby pool in my backyard under the shade tree. I've come a long way from the days of laying by the pool all day with my magazines. I wouldn't have it any other way. Daddy was the photographer-he gets to get in next time!


Friday night we went with some friends to Barkley Lodge for there seafood buffet. It was a nice boat ride and very relaxing for Deacon.


I know how important early exposure to language skills are for children. I am trying to have meaningful play with Deacon each day rather than just holding him. I have been introducing him to new toys and going over his colors and body parts with him-you may think I'm crazy but there are children with certain disorders that will make them delayed in language who receive speech therapy at this age so I know it can work. You can't over expose a child where learning is concerned. I am going to do theme activities on my days off when he is a little older to introduce new concepts. As you can tell by this picture he is not impressed yet!


Me and Aunt Tay put him in his Bumbo seat and he loved it. He can hold his head up so well and people comment on it all the time when they find out how young he is.


I think his favorite friend will always be his sissy. They love each other so much.

God is Good

Derek and I have prayed for the past several months that we would find the perfect babysitter for Deacon when I went back to work. We wanted someone who was a good Christian woman who would love him as if he was their own. This is the type of babysitter I had and I wouldn't trade my time with her for anything. Our prayers were answered in ways we could have never imagined. My mom was offered a part-time job which she accepted so he will be staying with his Mimmie two days a week. We couldn't be more blessed! I feel a burden has been lifted off my shoulders and I can now enjoy the rest of my maternity leave. We thank God that he will be in such good hands.

Deacon Love

We have had another fun and busy week. I want to do better about updating but Deacon LOVES to be held so it's hard to type one handed! I will let the pictures do the talking since I know that's what everyone cares about!

We took his one month pictures which we will take every month and use for his scrapbook and first birthday party invitations.

He made his first Nashville shopping trip with mommy, Mimmie, and Aunt Tay. He was an angel and racked up with lots of new clothes.

He went to the drive-in to see Toy Story 3.


Daddy gave him a bath using the Jacuzzi feature on the baby tub and he discovered he loves baths. He may or may not be high maintenance-the verdict is out!


He went to church looking absolutely adorable.


Deacon would like to wish his Poppa a very Happy Birthday tommorow!
