Deacon cheesing before Gunner's Tree Planting

Gunner was a dear friend of ours who lost his battle with DIPG brain tumor in Oct 2008. We celebrated his birthday by attending a tree planting in his honor. The park in our town lost several trees in the ice storm and they replaced 2 trees in honor of his life and in celebration of his 10th birthday. We loved Gunner very much and rejoice in the fact that he is healed! What a birthday he must have had in heaven! We tell Deacon of him often and know that he would have loved him.

Deacon had fun playing at the park.

Gunner's parents have started a foundation in his memory. There were carnival games at the tree planting to raise money for his cause. Amelia got her face painted and they both played lots of games. We had fun spending the morning with Aunt Tay, Aunt Jill, Uncle Michael, Jackson and Amelia. All of our church friends were there too! Daddy worked late so we missed him!
I love these kids!

Mimmie bought Deacon some new books which he thought were hilarious.

We spent some time with Derek's family at Grandma Clara's. They were all in to visit Aunt Christine who is in the hospital. Deacon loved meeting everyone!

Sunday was very special to us because Derek and Deacon were baptized. I was baptized on the same day as my dad so it was neat they did it together as well. We look forward to raising Deacon to be a good Christian man.

Sweet cousin Kye! He is on the move and hard to photograph-getting one of the boys together is next to impossible.
I'm returning back to work Tuesday. I have loved spending the past 12 weeks at home with my sweet baby. However, I love my job and feel that God called me to be a Speech Pathologist. I have never dreaded going to work even when I was very pregnant and uncomfortable. I dread leaving him but I am excited to see my girls and my patients. I am blessed to be able to work 3 days a week so I will still have lots of time with Deacon. I would appreciate any prayers you can send our way as I transition back to work. Deacon will be in great hands with Mimmie and Daddy. I'm hoping that Tuesday will not be as hard as I'm expecting.
Have a great week!
