Coming Home Outfit

I ordered Deacon a coming home outfit from the Gap. It was so adorable and oh so sweet. It was a little brown cotton sleeper and I could just picture it with his name embroidered on it with a matching hat and blanket. They didn't have a newborn size so I ordered him the up to 7 pounds size. I have a feeling he will be bigger that 7 pounds since Derek is no small guy but all the reviews said it runs a little big. I also knew from experience with Jackson that they just look cuter in a newborn size outfit because they are usually swimming in 0-3 months the first few days. Let's just say the outfit will have to go back....it is tiny. There is no way he will fit in it unless he born several weeks early. I was going to save it for Amelia because she is wanting a boy baby doll but I don't even think it would fit a doll! BOO! Back to the drawing board we go!

In other news things are going great with us. Derek is working days this week so he is home with us at night which is a big change but very enjoyable for us as well. I don't think he understood mine and Maddy's need for silence during The Bachelor last night or the endless texts that are sent and received during the show but it was a nice glimpse into our world on Monday nights.

We need to repaint the armoire in Deacon's room so my mom and dad are coming to pick it up tonight so they can work on it at there house in the event of snow. I think my mom is hoping to be out at least one day this week. It is so generous of them to paint this for us and they always offer willingly without us even asking. It frees us up to work on other things. So this week they are working on painting and Derek and I are working on registering. Please pray for us! It took us at least 6 hours in one store to register for our wedding and no less than 10 calls to my mom who was in Florida! Toys R Us won't know what hit them! Walmart no longer has the little guns so we will have to do that one online which seems daunting to me.

Any parents that know of any must register for items please leave us a comment and let us know! We are going in blindly.

  1. I would keep the outfit, just in case he is small! You just never know! Lilli was swimming in newborn clothes for a while and she was 7lb 11oz.

As for registering, I loved my Aden + Anais swaddle blankets (they have them at Babies R Us.) They are huge and perfect for when the baby grows (and are breathable for this summer, unlike some of the others.)

I don't know if you can register for it, but you MUST get a Nose Frida. Google it to learn more. Sounds disgusting, but works AMAZINGLY well and is a must have for any parent. Jason was skeptical and slightly disgusted but even he agrees it was worth the money.

We also swear by our soother for the crib. It is fisher price and has lights, sounds and motions. After we put that in her crib she napped/slept great. She now can push the button on her own and puts herself to sleep using it.

Jason and I bought the DVD to the book "Happiest Baby on the Block" by Harvey Karp. We watched it together instead of reading it. We used his techniques and they totally worked! I recommend it to all my pregnant friends!

Those are all the random things I can think of that you might not already know about! I do have some random advice about breastpumps, email me if you want to know more!

  2. Keep the outfit, just in case. Andrew was 7'9 but down to 6'11 when he came home. It was a month before 0-3 months fit him!
Um, let's see. I love that bumbo seat. We didn't have one, but everyone that does seems to love it. Andrew liked his little aquarium that fit on his crib. Don't go overboard with blankets, you will get so many regardless. If you are nursing, I loved my Avent pump. It's a hand pump, but super easy to do and less expensive than electric. Baby Einstein and Praise Baby DVDs if you ever want to shower. And put on the registry that gift cards are welcome. Love you!

  3. Keep it Lindsey. They look little but Paxton was 6lb 12oz and stayed in up to 7lb for 3 weeks! I have a feeling it will fit.
