Nursery

The nursery pictures are finally ready to be posted. There are two small projects left to do but I'll point those out when I get to them. Our nice camera takes awesome pictures but they are huge. So for blogging purposes we use an older camera because it is faster. This is why the quality of these pictures aren't the best.

This is what you see when you walk into his room:

To the left is his bookcase made by Poppa. We wanted a toy box and a bookcase and we were talking about this one night when my parents were over. My dad began sketching out some ideas and this piece was created. None of us knew for sure what it would look like until it was done but we love it-getting it into his room was not fun. At one point we had Daddy pinned in the bathroom, Granna pinned in the hallway and Aunt Tay pinned in the guestroom while Poppa, Mommy, and Maddy were attempting to take out the window in Deacon's room to push the bookcase through the window. We were unsuccessful with the window so we came up with another plan and finally succeeded. Mrs. Moyers made his cushion and Mawma made his pillows. I am going to put Deacon on one blue pillow and Asher on the other. We are still collecting things to go on his bookshelf and are just using the stuffed animals on there now as fillers. They will more than likely move to the toy box.

In the corner is his glider. We ordered extra fabric from the company that made his bedding and had it recovered. I love it. A lady in Colorado that I found on the Internet made his blanket for me. I had leftover fabric from his curtains and I sent it to her for the blanket.

These are his curtains. I got the idea for them from my friend Maria. She ordered her youngest sons bedding from Javis Davis and then ordered extra fabric and had curtains made to match. I ordered Deacon's bedding from the same website and ordered extra fabric and went off her design for the curtains. Thanks Maria and Ollie! Mrs. Moyers made the curtains. Derek and I found the things that are holding the curtain rod at Hobby Lobby and I painted them to match the room. I like that they are different.

This is his crib corner. I wanted the crib centered on the back wall and Derek wanted it cornered. Once we got the bookshelf in he won the battle but now I love it. The boat to the right is one of the first pieces we bought for his room. We had our eye on it for awhile and waited for it to go sale. Once he is born Dena is going to embroider his name and birth date on one of the sails.

This is a close up of his wheel. I did his monogram on the Cricut and Derek attached them to the wheel. We found this wheel at Hobby Lobby and it was a drift wood color. Derek repainted it and bought the rope to attach to it.

This is his crib. I designed his bedding on Javis Davis long before we knew if he was a boy or girl. I was in love with this bedding and I was hoping I would get to use it!

Here is his armoire which Poppa and Granna repainted. I love it. The lamp came from Max Rosa's nursery which I think is very sweet. We are working on something to go in the two frames. I attempted to blow up his 4d picture but it's distorted so I am trying another idea.

This is the inside of his armoire. His little diaper bag is ready to go! I labeled these canvas bins which you will see in a close up in the next picture.

Here is a closeup of one of the bins.

To the left of the armoire is this anchor. We found this anchor at Hobby Lobby and Derek repainted it. I love it and the anchor is a sign for hope.

This is his changing table wall. The lighting isn't the best in this picture.

Here is his verse. I painted the canvas and printed out the letters on the Cricut. This took much longer than I imagined.

These are the baskets under his changing table.Dena embroidered them for us and I love them. Maddy loves the diapers on the bottom shelf so we may have to rearrange them. She has destroyed 3 to date but she was in so much trouble last night after getting one that I think she may have learned. Her Daddy was VERY mad!

This quote is above his closet. We got it on clearance before he was conceived. We weren't even trying yet but we had begun talking about it. I'm sure our world will come to a halt when he see him for the first time so it was very fitting.

I love his room and can't wait to fill it with the most important accessory of all-him! I love that Derek likes to decorate as much as I do. I like to get creative and do projects regardless of the amount of effort it takes and he is the same way. We hope you enjoy his room!

  2. I LOVE IT Lins! You guys have worked so hard on that room and it really shows. My favorite part has to be the bookshelf. It is amazing. Looks like it came from Pottery Barn and his Papa made it:) That will always be a heirloom for your family. I also love the wheel and the canvas verse. Can't wait to see you Sunday. Love you.
